Three public piers give north Sound crabbers practical walk-on access, but they do not all share a marine area. Mukilteo and Everett are in Marine Area 8-2; Edmonds is in Marine Area 9. Check the season for the pier you will actually use.
Mukilteo Fishing Piers
Location: beside the Mukilteo Ferry Terminal. The Port of Everett identifies the public dock as a crabbing, fishing and sightseeing facility. WDFW documents parking, railings, accessible pier space and restrooms.
The public restroom is upstairs in the ferry terminal while it is open; vehicle-holding-lane restrooms are for paid ferry customers. Check posted pier hours, keep gear outside the ferry lane and give passengers room.
Mukilteo Lighthouse Park launch
Address: 609 Front Street. This is the nearby boat option. The launch handles several boats at once, with floats normally installed May 15–September 30. The ramp remains open without floats in winter.
Current hours are 4 a.m.–10 p.m. in the warm season and 6 a.m.–10 p.m. in winter. Trailer parking is $15 per day in the warm season and $10 in winter.
Edmonds Fishing Pier
Address: 200 Admiral Way at Olympic Beach. The pier is open 24 hours a day, all year, and has parking, restrooms, drinking water and accessible paths. The Visitor Station is currently closed, but the pier remains open.
Critical boundary: Edmonds beaches are marine sanctuaries. Shellfish harvest is legal from the fishing pier, not the surrounding beaches, Brackett’s Landing or underwater park. Do not place harvest gear on the beach.
Everett 10th Street pier and launch
Address: 607 10th Street, Everett. Jetty Landing has a public fishing/crabbing dock and major boat launch. WDFW documents parking, railings, restrooms and accessible features. Check Port of Everett notices for current launch hours and fees rather than relying on old rate tables.
Current Puget Sound limits
The daily Dungeness limit is five male crab at least 6¼ inches. The red rock limit is six crab of either sex at least 5 inches, and the Tanner limit is six of either sex at least 4½ inches. Release soft-shell crab. A Puget Sound crab endorsement and catch record card are required for Dungeness; record retained crab immediately.
Pier and boat safety
Weight pots and rings for current, use sinking line of the correct length and keep all gear out of ferry lanes, shipping lanes, marina entrances and launches. Boats may not deploy or pull crab gear from one hour after sunset until one hour before sunrise. WDFW creel surveys confirm real crabbing use at these piers, but they do not guarantee catch on a particular visit.
