Texas blue-crab access ranges from urban Galveston Bay to marsh-side state parks and jetties. Choose a documented public facility and check both fishing regulations and seafood-consumption advisories.
Galveston Bay and Island
Galveston Island State Park provides bay-side shoreline, paddling and marsh access. Seawolf Park is another public waterfront facility, but posted fishing fees and rules apply.
Sea Rim and Sabine Pass
TPWD identifies an accessible crabbing point on the bay side of Sea Rim State Park—an official alternative to vague roadside recommendations.
Goose Island and Aransas Bay
Goose Island State Park has a long public pier between Aransas and St. Charles bays. Confirm pier condition and park notices before a long trip.
Quintana and Brazoria coast
Quintana Beach County Park documents a lighted fishing pier and west-jetty access. Jetty water is more hazardous than a protected bay pier.
Rules and advisories
Current Texas rules specify legal devices, a 5-inch minimum blue-crab width and release of egg-bearing females. The state’s active consumption list includes waterbody-specific bans and advisories. A 2013 order can still be active, but it must be presented through the current state list—not as an unexplained old PDF.
