Florida blue crabs can be found in estuaries on both coasts. The access below distinguishes public piers from boat ramps and blue-crab rules from stone-crab rules.
Jacksonville waterways
County Dock, Julington Creek, Clapboard Creek and the George Crady Bridge give northeast Florida several city- or state-documented public options.
Tampa Bay
Mobbly Bayou Preserve, Fort De Soto and E.G. Simmons Park have documented waterfront infrastructure. Facility repairs and storm closures can change quickly, so verify the exact pier before traveling.
Indian River Lagoon
Smyrna Dunes Park provides a public fishing pier on the Indian River side. Confirm current park rules and do not assume every boardwalk permits traps.
Blue crab rules
Florida currently has a daily volume limit and recreational trap limit, plus registration, marking and legal tending requirements. Regional trap closures occur. Stone crab has a separate season, claw-size rule and harvesting method; never treat a blue-crab page as stone-crab authority.
